Deichman, Programming/DesignlSecurity Specifications <br /> <br />Project Description: <br />· The project is located in a prosperous and growing suburb of Kansas City. <br />· The new facility includes the municipal court, the police department, and a short- <br />term arrestee lock-up. <br />· The planning process included meetings with staff that led to an understanding <br />of desired organizational changes and future space needs. <br />· The pre-design process resulted in a detail facility program for all facility <br />occupants. <br />· The building is a 68,350 gross square foot, two-level facility. <br />· The site was a challenging sloping site that provided opportunities for distinctly <br />separate court, public, and lock-up access points. <br />· Public access, courts and police administration are on the second level with <br />patrol, lock-up, patrol access, and deliveries on the lower level. <br />· The Courtroom is located immediately adjacent to a dramatic two-story atrium <br />lobby to facilitate easy and direct public access and to provide strong visual clues <br />as to the location of all functions within the building. <br />· The design features extensive lobby and courtroom seating areas to <br />accommodate high volume traffic court days. <br />· There is a secure non-public route from the lock-up to the courtroom as well as a <br />secure vehicle sally port for inmate transports to county jail. <br />· The police facility is a full service facility with staff lockers and ample training <br />facilities as well as administrative, patrol and investigative areas. <br />· The facility has a lObed lock-up to accommodate short-term stays of male and <br />female adult arrestees; there are special cells for intoxicated arrestees. <br />
