Bostwick, Programming/Design/Security Specifications

Project Description:
· This was a joint project of two counties brought together by Kimme &
Associates as a result of separate clients recognized by K&A to have similar
needs.
· The objective of the joint effort was to meet individual county needs more
effectively and economically than possible through separate projects.
· The counties actually share ownership of the facilities rather than participate in a
more typical rental relationship.
· The facility includes juvenile courts, juvenile probation, juvenile state's attorney,
juvenile court clerk, and juvenile detention (100 beds) on a new site. The
detention facilities are those that are shared. The justice facilities serve the needs
of Will County only.
· Two modem courtrooms with a secure path from the detention center were
designed.
· Separate, securely accessed offices with conference and interview capabilities are
provided for the State's Attorney's office and Probation.
· The Clerks' facilities are easily accessed from the lobby and the courtrooms.
· A single, secure public lobby serves all of the court-related functions.
· The public lobby connects to a separate juvenile detention waiting lobby.
· All detention housing is single occupancy in a pod remote setting
· A staff monitored "program commons" not only provides ample education and
program space but provides teacher and service provider security.
· The program commons includes a fully equipped computer lab.
