Anderson on 10/10/07] <br /> <br />Fargo Police Department <br />Methamphetamine Initiative <br />Budget Narrative <br />Lieutenant Gene Anderson <br />June 27,2007 <br /> <br />B. Civilian/Other Personnel <br /> <br />Methamphetamine Coordinator Position. <br />The Fargo Police Department intends to procure funding through this grant for a civilian <br />coordinator position in the Fargo Cass Public Health Department. The Methamphetamine <br />Coordinator will manage and operate the Fargo Cass Public Health Department's county <br />wide methamphetamine programs. Programs include, but are not limited to: <br /> <br />Coordinator of methamphetamine related warrants/arrest task force activities. <br />Coordinate methamphetamine related investigation/surveillance. <br />Liaison with Police Department Intelligence Unit. <br />Liaison with Cass County State's Attorney Office. <br />Public presentations and training on methamphetamine. <br />Coordinate efforts with drug treatment facilities. <br />Evaluate the effectiveness of the Methamphetamine Initiative. <br /> <br />The Methamphetamine Coordinator will serve as a civilian liaison between Fargo Cass <br />Public Health, Fargo Police Department and the community in an effort to build <br />cooperative community relationships in preventing methamphetamine drug related <br />crimes. The Methamphetamine Coordinator will also work with regional drug treatment <br />facilities in an attempt to reduce recidivism rates relating to methamphetamine. <br /> <br />Total cost of the Methamphetamine Coordinator position, <br />base salary with benefits for 2 years: <br /> <br />$111,683.00 <br /> <br />Methamphetamine Prosecutor. <br />The Fargo Police Department intends to procure funding through this grant for a civilian <br />Assistant State's Attorney, assigned to the Cass County State's Attorney Office to focus <br />on complex methamphetamine cases, to include child protection cases stemming from <br />methamphetamine crimes. The Methamphetamine Prosecutor will: <br /> <br />-K <br /> <br />Coordinate prosecution of methamphetamine drug related cases. <br />Coordinate review and direct follow up investigation of ongoing <br />methamphetamine cases. <br />Prepare search warrants for methamphetamine cases. <br />Provide legal counsel for law enforcement relating to arrest, search and <br />seizure of methamphetamine and assets connected to methamphetamine. <br />Prepare and present cases for preliminary and jury trials. <br /> <br />1 <br />
