As the president of the Park Board, I strive, with every project, to create a fun, safe playing environment for the children ofHnrwood. Our town takes pride in our children. This is tbe type of town where neighbors still look out for one another. We all believe that it takes a village to raise a child, and we all do Our best for the children in Harwood. This is why we deBperately need a safe crossing for our kids to reach their school. The current overpass is old :i\nd has no sidewall<. Any c.hildron crossing, in order to reach the :rohool, playground or simply a friend's house, has no cushion from the traffic. There is no safe stopping point if they need to wait for a turning car or clear visibility for a driver to see a little one coming toward them. As you can see, we have an overpass that possesses a safety hazard. This is not a problem that we can solve alone. OUf town is small, with no high-end commercial development This means our tax base is small. We stretch every dollar and tap every resource just for playground equipment. This project will be large and expensive. We desperately need assistance from an outside source to give our children a safe passage to school. I hope that you can help us in this exciting endeavor.
