" . . <br />This project is part of the City of Mapleton's 2025 Comprehensive. <br />Plan and a part of management poli~ies for the ~orridors of Interstate <br />Highway 94 and Cass County Highways 10 and 11. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Jfyour project is part of a plan, explain the background and origin of the plan <br />and attach supporting documentation. <br />The 2025 Comprehensive Plan was initially proposed in 1998 and <br />updated in 2004. Management policies were prepared in July 2007 in <br />response to development pressure in the ~ity and the extra~territorial <br />planning area. <br /> <br />3. Is your project tied to another project? If so, please explain. <br />This proje~t is part of a multi-phase project which will begin as <br />Phases 1 and 2 with the hopes of connecting more points of the city to <br />the multi-use path in the future. <br /> <br />4. How does your project tit with similar projects in your community and/or <br />region? <br />This project is in~line with the Cass County Highway Departments <br />mission to "provide and maintain an efficient, sa.fi:.~, environmentally <br />sensitive, and cost effective county transportation system to effectively <br />meet citizen's needsfor personal mobility and movement of goods <br />consistent with the importance of transportation ". Specifically the <br />project will serve to increase safety along Cass County Highway 11 by <br />offering a safer alternative to the current combined use of the <br />highway for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. <br /> <br />5. What is the population of the community in which the project is proposed? <br />876 (2007 Estimate) <br /> <br />6. What is the population within one-half mile of the project? <br />876 (estimate) The path will span an area that will be within short <br />proximity to the entire community. <br /> <br />7. What is the estimated number ofpeoplc per year you believe will use the <br />completed project? <br />18,250 users per year: It is estimated that the path will have an average <br />daily traffic volume of 50 trips. There will likely be higher use in the <br />summer months and lower use in the winter months. 50 users per day <br />equates to 18,250 per year. <br /> <br />8 <br />
