<br />Category I: Bicycle & Pedestrian Projects: a) the construction of bicycle and pedestrian
<br />facilities

<br />10. Project Relation to Surface Transportation:
<br />
<br />This multi-use path will serve to connect pedestrians and bicyclists to various points
<br />throughout the City of Mapleton, including residential, retail, recreation, school, and
<br />government facilities. The path will be constructed along Cass County Highway 11 fcom
<br />Mapleton City Hall and Community Center to Interstate Highway 94, and is bordered by
<br />various housing, a restaurant, a golf course, and a convenience store. These destinations
<br />require separate pedestrian access from the highway to ensure safe and efficient travel.
<br />The successful completion of this project will rcsult in safe travel for pedestrians,
<br />bicyclists, and motorists alike. Furthermore, this project will be seen as a positive
<br />contributor to the overall quality of life for the citizens of Mapleton by offering easier
<br />access to their desired destinations.
