<br />Commission Minutes-July 16, 2007 3225 <br /> <br />existing equipment and would align the jail for future growth, to include contracting food <br />services with the Clay County Jail. Mr. Vanyo questioned whether the Jail Commissary <br />Account will cover the entire cost of the purchase. Mr. Ellingsberg replied due to a surplus <br />in the account there is a need to draw some of the funds down and therefore, the entire <br />purchase would be taken from the commissary account. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the purchase of <br />one Blodgett double rack convention oven for $5,607; one Ultra Max <br />stainless steel griddle for $2,683.28; one Anvil America 40 quart mixer for <br />$4,848.98; and 350 T-140 food trays with accompanying lids for $7,700. <br />All purchases are to be paid for with funds from the Jail Commissary <br />Account. Discussion: Mrs. Johnson said the maintenance staff <br />performed an inspection of the power sources needed to operate this <br />equipment and found them to be sufficient so there should be no <br />additional funds needed for power. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />@ <br /> <br />SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Grant application for school security video cameras and <br />intercoms approved <br />Mr. Ellingsberg stated that the Cass County Sheriff's Department is working with area <br />schools on a Secure Our Schools grant which will be used for security equipment such as <br />video cameras and intercoms. The grant is offered through the COPS office of the U.S. <br />Department of Justice. The 50% match required by the grant will be provided by each <br />participating school within Cass County and the county will act as the pass through agency. <br />No taxpayer funds will be used in the project. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the <br />electronic application for the 2007 Secure Our Schools Grant on <br />behalf of Cass County: authorize Glenn Elllngsberg from the Sheriff's <br />Department to act as the Authorized Organization Representative <br />(AOR): and file any electronic filings which may be required for the <br />grant application and during the grant period on the county's behalf. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />7. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />218,950 through Voucher No. 219,300. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8. MEETING UPDATES; BUILDING MAINTENANCE; STORM DAMAGE, Committee <br />reports <br />Mrs. Johnson reported on meetings she had attended in the past month as well as <br />upcoming meetings. On July 23 and 24 she will attend an Emergency Disaster <br />Management meeting in Bismarck. Sheriff Laney, in addition to officials from the City of <br />Fargo, and Cass Public Health will also attend. <br />
