Laney, Sheriff RECEIVED September 7, 2007 SEP 7 20011 Cass County Commission CASS COUNTY COMMISSION Reference: Change in fee for Concealed Weapons Permits (CWP) The Cass County Sheriffs Office implemented a change in the filing process for the Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) which was effective on August 15,2007. The Sheriffs Office is now responsible for the complete CWP process. The process has become more streamlined and efficient because of these changes. Due to these process changes, and the administrative duties that go along with these changes, we are requesting to change the fees for both new CWP applications and renewal applications. In the past the fee for a new application was $31. The breakdown of the fees is as follows: . Testing ($20) . Background check ($10) . Photos ($1). We would like to change the fee to $35. The reason for the increase is we are now providing fingerprinting service, where prior to the new process applicants were sent to the Fargo Police Department or the West Fargo Police Department for fingerprints. In the past, the renewal fee was one $1.00 dollar to cover the cost of the photo. Weare requesting the renewal fee be changed to $10.00 dollars to cover both the background check and photo required for a renewal application. These fees will cover all costs associated with processing the CWP requests. Action Requested: Move the County Commission adopt the new fee schedule recommended by the Cass County Sheriff's Office to cover the costs ofprocessing Concealed Weapons Permits. ~; R Paul D.
