Laney, Sheriff September 7, 2007 RECEIVED Cass County Commission SEP 7 2007, CASS COUNTY COMMISSION Reference: Change in fee for Extra Duty Requests The Cass County Sheriffs Office is requesting a change to the Extra Duty fees for hiring off-duty deputies to work events. The current rate is $35.00 per hour. The deputy working the detail is paid $30.00 per hour and the remaining $5.00 per hour is placed in the general fund as an administrative fee for processing of requests, vehicles use, etc. Within the past six (6) months, both the Fargo Police Department and the West Fargo Police Department have raised their Extra-Duty fees to $40.00 per hour with a minimum of three (3) hours. This request would put us at the same rate as other area law enforcement agencies. This makes it consistent for all agencies providing extra-detail personnel. It also adjusts to the higher costs of providing personnel and equipment for these details. Action Requested: Move the County Commission adopt the new hourly rate recommended by the Cass County Sheriff's Office to raise Extra-Duty fees from $35.00 per hour to $40.00 per hour effective October 1, 2007.
