LIHEAP Emergency Cooling Program - Cass County Procedures

Marilyn Koehlmoos, -6782, is the point person at Cass County.

If the client has not applied for LIHEAP during FY2007, or was denied, an application
must be completed and household must be found to be income and assets eligible.

Client must provide statement from their physician that they have a medical need for
cooling equipment.

Client must provide a statement that they do not now possess necessary cooling
equipment.

Client must select a vendor who is willing to accept a Cass County voucher for payment
and who understands that payment will be authorized and paid by the County
Commission during their next regularly scheduled meeting held on the first and third
Mondays of each month.

Client must bring in a written statement of cost + all associated taxes from the vendor. A
voucher will then be issued to the vendor.

Any amount over $300.00 will be the responsibility of the client.

Client is responsible to make their own arrangements to get their cooling equipment to
their residence.

NOTE:

I am waiting to hear back from SENDCAA re: whether or not their weatherization people
can help install units, if clients need assistance with that.

Ron Knutson from the State LIHEAP office is working on another FYI detailing more
procedures.

Other info will be forwarded as we get it.
