<br />Commission Minutes-July 23, 2007 3228 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County <br />Commissioners declares an emergency currently exists in Cass County, North <br />Dakota and orders the activation and utilization of the County Emergency <br />Operations Plan, its procedures, attachments and appendices to monitor the <br />situation, alleviate hardship and initiate appropriate relief actions and mitigation <br />measures by departments and agencies of local government. <br /> <br />DATED at Fargo, North Dakota, this 23rd day of July, 2007. <br /> <br />Mr. Rogness stated severe summer storms on July 15, 2007 caused in excess of <br />one million dollars damage in western and southern Cass County. Governor <br />Hoeven has indicated his intent to apply for a Presidential Disaster Declaration <br />for the damage resulting from these storms. Mr. Rogness asked the Cass <br />County Commission to authorize the commission chairman to sign an emergency <br />declaration allowing Cass County to be included in the declaration. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to authorize the <br />commission chairman to sign an emergency declaration as <br />submitted by Dave Rogness, Emergency Manager for the July 15, <br />2007 severe summer storms in Cass County. All members voted in <br />favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY DECLARATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County, North Dakota has been severely impacted by a <br />severe summer storm beginning on July 15, 2007, and continuing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County citizens and businesses suffered damage caused by <br />the same summer storm; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the impact of this incident threatens the health, well-being and public <br />safety of the residents of Cass County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cost of response and recovery is in excess of available normal <br />county resources. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County <br />Commissioners declares an emergency currently exists in Cass County, North <br />Dakota and orders the activation and utilization of the County Emergency <br />Operations Plan, its procedures, attachments and appendices to monitor the <br />situation, alleviate hardship and initiate appropriate relief actions and mitigation <br />measures by departments and agencies of local government. <br /> <br />DATED at Fargo, North Dakota, this 23rd day of July, 2007. <br />
