Sidewalks and/or graded areas shall be required depending on road classification and <br />intensity of development in accordance with the requirements set forth in Table 6. Curb and <br />Sidewalk Requirements below. <br /> 2. Where sidewalks are optional, they may be required by the Planning Commission when the <br />project is close to pedestrian generators such as schools, to continue a walk on an existing <br />street, to link areas, or as indicated in local comprehensive plans. <br />3. In conventional developments, sidewalks shall be placed parallel to the street within the <br />right-of-way unless a variance has been granted to preserve topographical or natural <br />features, or to provide visual interest, or unless the applicant shows that an alternative <br />pedestrian system provides safe and convenient circulation. <br />4.
