Project No. 5343~OOO

Dear Granberg Acres Residents:

Enclosed herewith are the Preliminary Engineering Report and Opinion of Probable Cost for the
above referenced proj ect.

The Improvement District will provide 6-inches of asphalt pavement to the following area:

Lots 1 through 28 of Block I, of Granberg's Subdivision, Cass County

and

Lots I & 2 of Block I, Lots 1 through 10 of Block 2, Lots 1 & 13 through 19 of Block 3,
and Lots 6 through II Block 4, of Amber Plains Second Subdivision, Cass County.

and

Lot 1 of Block 1 of Walsh's First Subdivision, Cass County

As requested, Houston Engineering Inc. has field observed existing Granberg's Subdivision and
Amber Plains Second Subdivision's roads and taken a few measurements so that a preliminary
opinion of probable cost for installation of 6- inches of asphalt could be calculated. The street
right of way currently is covered with gravel of various widths. The proposed 6-inch asphalt
pavement (16 to 25 feet wide) will be installed on top ofa prepared and shaped gravel surface
using the existing gravel. This would mean that the widths of asphalt would change as the
widths of gravel changes and would stop at driveway entrances.

Many homeowners may want to match the proposed asphalt street with concrete or asphalt
driveways. The project will only overlay the street portion and cannot be feathered out to match
the driveways. The individual homeowners would be responsible for matching proposed asphalt
street or paving between the driveway entrance and any existing pavement in front of homes if
they wish. This cost WILL NOT be part ofthis project. In addition to the initial proposed
construction, Cass County requires that a maintenance cost for two years be added to the opinion

Minneapolis Office
Bismarck Office
Minot Office
Thief River Falls Ofiice

. 10900 73rd Ave. N..
