The first year cost estimates ranged from an upgrade of our current system at approximately $26,000 for software only to $160,000 to implement a new system. Currently email, electronic faxing and voicemail are available now, but are in three independent failing legacy systems. It takes a tremendous amount of administrative work keeping employee databases updated as employees changes occur between the three systems. Late in 2006, Microsoft introduced an upgrade to the current server software, Exchange Server, which we use for email access. The 2007 upgrade would include unified messaging. There are several advantages to Microsoft Exchange server upgrade: o It is tightly integrated into our existing systems. o Administration would be done through one system. o Elimination of three legacy servers. o Utilizes familiar technologies. o Easily integrates voicemail into web based email system. Since we already own the base licenses for the EmaiJ server software, to implement the unified messaging capabilities, we only have to purchase the licenses in addition to the hardware that we would have had to upgrade anyway.
