<br />Commission Minutes-February 5, 2007 3173 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the <br />chairman to sign the 2007 contract with the North Dakota Association <br />of Counties for management of the Information Technology <br />Department in the amount of $101,400. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, Remote access contract with Moore Engineering <br />approved <br />Mr. Schmaltz said the county entered into an agreement in 2002 with the State of North <br />Dakota and IdeaOne Telecom to provide fiber connectivity to various governmental <br />entities in Cass County, Fargo and West Fargo. The Cass County Highway Department <br />is an interconnecting point between West Fargo City Hall and the rest of the state <br />network. West Fargo is requesting two additional facilities, West Fargo Public Works <br />located along 12th Avenue North and Moore Engineering located along 13th Avenue <br />East, be connected to the system. He noted that Jim Brownlee, West Fargo City <br />Administrator, and Kevin Bucholz, Moore Engineering, were also present to answer any <br />questions. <br /> <br />Mr. Schmaltz said the connection will allow the public works department to access West <br />Fargo servers, Cass County GIS and the internet. Moore Engineering provides <br />engineering services to the city as well as the water resource districts and will have <br />access to city building permits as well as the county's GIS system. West Fargo and <br />Moore Engineering will be responsible for the purchase and repair of any equipment <br />and services required for connectivity and Cass County Information Technology will <br />maintain administrative control over security of the equipment and will coordinate <br />installation of equipment at the Highway Department. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to authorize the <br />Information Technology Department to coordinate installation of <br />networking equipment at the Cass County Highway Department; and <br />to authorize the chairman to sign a contract with Moore Engineering <br />for remote access to county computer systems. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />12. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher <br />No. 214,521 through Voucher No. 214,946. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />13. MEETING UPDATES; SMOKING COMMITTEE; LEGISLATIVE ISSUES, Committee <br />reports <br />Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two <br />weeks, as well as upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Mr. Bennett serves as the county representative on a committee studying smoking <br />issues. He welcomes any comments or ideas from the board that may be directed to <br />the committee. <br />
