Commission Minutes-February 5, 2007 3173 MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the chairman to sign the 2007 contract with the North Dakota Association of Counties for management of the Information Technology Department in the amount of $101,400. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 11. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, Remote access contract with Moore Engineering approved Mr. Schmaltz said the county entered into an agreement in 2002 with the State of North Dakota and IdeaOne Telecom to provide fiber connectivity to various governmental entities in Cass County, Fargo and West Fargo. The Cass County Highway Department is an interconnecting point between West Fargo City Hall and the rest of the state network. West Fargo is requesting two additional facilities, West Fargo Public Works located along 12th Avenue North and Moore Engineering located along 13th Avenue East, be connected to the system. He noted that Jim Brownlee, West Fargo City Administrator, and Kevin Bucholz, Moore Engineering, were also present to answer any questions. Mr. Schmaltz said the connection will allow the public works department to access West Fargo servers, Cass County GIS and the internet. Moore Engineering provides engineering services to the city as well as the water resource districts and will have access to city building permits as well as the county's GIS system. West Fargo and Moore Engineering will be responsible for the purchase and repair of any equipment and services required for connectivity and Cass County Information Technology will maintain administrative control over security of the equipment and will coordinate installation of equipment at the Highway Department. MOTION, passed Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to authorize the Information Technology Department to coordinate installation of networking equipment at the Cass County Highway Department; and to authorize the chairman to sign a contract with Moore Engineering for remote access to county computer systems. Motion carried unanimously. 12. VOUCHERS, Approved MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher No. 214,521 through Voucher No. 214,946. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 13. MEETING UPDATES; SMOKING COMMITTEE; LEGISLATIVE ISSUES, Committee reports Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, as well as upcoming meetings. Mr. Bennett serves as the county representative on a committee studying smoking issues. He welcomes any comments or ideas from the board that may be directed to the committee.
