I am the Cass County Recorder elect, and I look fOf\vard to meeting you on Monday, November 20th. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself I was born, reared and educated in North Dakota. I graduated High School [rum Midway Di~trict 1/-128, Ink~tl;:r, North Dakota. r then went on to Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks where I completed the course work and received a degree in Genenil 01Tj~i;: and Medical Stenography. I have worked ~;th the public since I was] 7 years old. After marriage I was self employed for 16 years, My husband and I had several restaurants, some franchise and some of our OW11 design. As owner/manager I was responsible for all aspects of the business: hiring, training, employee evaluations, marketing, purchasing, bookkeeping, as well as the day to day operation of the business. For the past nine years I have worked in the Cass County Recorder's office. I started in 1997 as a clerk, was promoted to the A-13 level, and then promoted to deputy. I have been a deputy for over five years and I have worked all positions in the office. I have wimessed the office move trom a six month back log to just under five weeks in document return. I was involved with the transition to digital imaging and computerization of document recording. I assisted in creating the information that we felt was necessary ior our department's portion of the Cass County web sight. I have been involved with the Dee's (personal property liens) since 2001, working with the Secretary of State's omce seeing us through the transition of the first phase of Article 9. I have always been a believer in hard work and dedication to whatever 1 am pursuing. I also believe courteous service is important in all service oriented industries. I believe that strong training, the ability to deal equitably with all situations where the public is involved is a necessity for all staff members and the responsibility of the management. An office is only as good as the employees and I see my job as making them as knowledgeable and efficient as possible. I see constant improvement and training as an on going endeavor.
