<br />Commission Minutes-November 6, 2006 3142 <br /> <br />6. TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTY, Hearing on appraisal <br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, said the properties on the annual tax sale list this year <br />are in Fargo, West Fargo and Tower City. Today is the date and time advertised for a public <br />hearing on the appraisal of tax-forfeited property, and Chairman Bennett opened the public <br />hearing. Mr. Montplaisir said one property in Fargo has been redeemed and an apartment <br />building in Fargo will also be redeemed within the next week. Since no one was present in <br />the audience at this time, the public hearing was closed. <br /> <br />7. PUBLIC HEALTH AND CORONER UPDATE <br />Dr. John Baird, county coroner and public health officer, was present and gave an update <br />on the services he provides to Cass County. He said duties for both the coroner and public <br />health officer are outlined in state statute. He was appointed as the county coroner in 1983 <br />and has five deputy coroners that assist him. In 2005 there were a total of 164 cases with <br />51 autopsies performed. <br /> <br />Dr. Baird said the public health officer is an appointed position whose duties include but are <br />not limited to sanitary inspections; guidance and recommendations to the board of public <br />health and public health department; emergency preparedness; health promotion; disease <br />control; consultation with health department divisions; spokesperson for the public health <br />department; and access to health care for the uninsured in the community. <br /> <br />Commissioners thanked Mr. Baird for his service to the county. <br /> <br />8. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />211,737 through Voucher No. 212,129. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />9. MEETING UPDATES; AED/CPR TRAINING; COURT FACILITIES IMPROVEMENT <br />GRANT; LEGISLATIVE LUNCHEON, Committee reports <br />Commissioners and staff reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, <br />as well as upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said AED and CPR training will be held this week for county staff. She said <br />twenty employees have signed up for the class. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson met last week with Rod Olson, District Court Administrator, to discuss the <br />application for the court facilities improvement grant. The item is scheduled for discussion <br />at the first board meeting in December. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson and commissioners agreed to tentatively schedule a luncheon with local <br />legislators for Monday, November 20, 2006, at 11 :30 AM. She said if this date does not <br />work, she will arrange the meeting for Tuesday, November 21st. <br /> <br />10.
