A housing center can provide
information for renters on housing opportunities and education on tenant
responsibilities and rights.

A regional housing center can have a larger mission to increase awareness of
housing issues for builders, buyers, developers, lenders, local housing authorities,
Realtors, local governments and the community at large. In a sense, the regional
housing center becomes the outreach and marketing arm of the regional housing
working group.

Advantages. The benefit of annual monitoring reports and housing forums is the
opportunity they provide to develop better methods of tracking the jobs/housing
balance. Both processes allow the planning and development community to learn
of innovative affordable housing products coming on the market and will serve as a
means to generate or revise new housing strategies and actions. They are also a
means to recognize successes.

An effective regional housing center focuses the attention of the community on the
importance of housing to the economic wellbeing of the community and the quality
of life of its vital citizens.

36

Linda S, j)nnnelly.
