material. Often clients are not able to visit our office to pick up these materials and we need to
think of creative ways to bring the material to them.

How was that focus determined? Was a needs assessment conducted?
A needs assessment on parent education was conducted in North Dakota in January of
2006 by NDSU Extension service. Results of that survey revealed that respondents identified the
NDSU Extension Service as the most useful organization in the state in addressing parenting and
family issues. 83% indicated that they had received resources from the Extension Service.
When asked which resources were most needed in parent education 68.1 % identified written
materials (handouts, fact sheets, bulletins, etc.) as being the most useful.
As we work with the professional staff at each ofthese agencies we conduct informal
needs assessment of what resources could help them in their work. They have been very
receptive as we have suggested the resource binders, display posters and are excited about the
possibilities.

Who was involved in the decision-making process?
Sharon Query, Rita Ussatis, and professional staff from agencies/ organizations were
involved in the decision-making process.

2.
