<br />Commission Minutes--November 3, 2003 2667 <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald thanked the board for their cooperation during the time he has served as <br />Cass County Emergency Manager. He will be leaving this position effective November 17th <br />and ending his employment with Cass County Government. The board expressed their <br />appreciation for the work Mr. McDonald has done, and for his coordination with the City of <br />Fargo in a continuing effort toward a joint emergency management position. <br /> <br />12. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />181,899 through No. 182,254. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />13. MEETING UPDATES; ELECTION REPORT; WORK FORCE SAFETY ITEMS; <br />BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS UPDATE, Committee reports <br />Mr. Meyer reported on meetings he has attended in the past two weeks. Also, he was <br />asked by Congressman Earl Pomeroy to serve on a committee to interview candidates from <br />all over the State for the military academy. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir stated the RFP (request for proposals) for election equipment was ready for <br />mailing last Friday. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, said 343 of 366 county employees attended a <br />substance abuse training seminar last week. The seminar was sponsored by the North <br />Dakota Workforce Safety and Insurance Office at no cost to Cass County, and it will give the <br />county a 10% reduction on annual worker's compensation premiums. She said two county <br />departments have not yet returned their risk management reports. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson encouraged commissioners to look at the window that has been installed, <br />complete with woodworking and marble restoration, on the Courthouse second floor area <br />where the old jail was connected to the courthouse by a walkway. <br /> <br />14. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />North Dakota State Water Commission membership information (Dan Twichell and <br />David Dubord may attend a future commission meeting to present additional information <br />and suggest a membership by Cass County, in addition to the water resource boards <br />being a member); <br />notice of Fargo Planning Commission meeting at 8:00 AM on November 12, 2003, Fargo <br />City Commission Room, at which time a recommendation may be made regarding the <br />South Side Red River Bridge Corridor Study; <br />Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation Growth Initiative Fund audit <br />from Eide Bailly, LLP; <br />letter from North Dakota Department of Human Resources regarding salary limitations <br />under the State merit system for county social service employees. <br />
