FARGO SENIOR COMMISSION, FundinQ for new administrative buildinQ Mr. Montplaisir said the Fargo Senior Commission requested $700,000 from the county earlier this year to help fund a new administrative building. The senior commission, city and park district have been working together to develop the project which will be located in south Fargo. Mr. Arett said in addition to the request made to the county, the city and park district are donating $400,000 of in-kind dollars; $400,000 will be used from the Fargo Senior Commission reserves; and $200,000 in fund raising efforts are planned. Mr. Wagner discussed alternative financing beyond the one mill and prefers to finance the building within the one mill. Mr. Pawluk said he has difficulty raising the levy when the county has its own space needs. Mr. Montplaisir said the board has the option to wait and see what the county receives next spring in matching funds from the state. Mr. Vanyo said if the commission decides to wait, maybe some funding could be taken from the reserves. Mr. Montplaisir said currently there is about $47,000 in reserves. Mr. Arett said if the county does not help fund the project beyond the one mill levy, this may affect programs for seniors and limit the ability to meet operational expenses. Mr. Montplaisir will contact Jim Larson from the Fargo Park District to discuss financing options for the county. Mr. Bennett said the board needs to make a decision about whether to fund the $700,000 request and suggested this item be placed on the next regular commission agenda for action. 12.
