The current plan, dated 2002, will need to be revised at the end of2007. I expect this effort to take 12 - 15 months to complete. Completion of this requirement allows Cass County and its participating incorporated cities to apply for and receive future federal hazard mitigation funding. Cass County and those cities have received several milJion dollars in the recent past to assist with mitigation for flood and other hazards. I have prepared an e-grant application to submit to FEMA for funding to assist in this effort. The grant is a 75% federal grant with a 25% local match. The local match can be an "in-kind" contribution. The total grant application is for $10,395 which includes $7,796.25 from FEMA and $2,598.75 as the local match. If approved, my intention would be that Cass County's share would be an in-kind contribution from staff from the county and cities involved. I have been told that these grants would not be approved until the fall of this year. If you approve this request, the grant application requires a funding commitment letter for the match to be submitted with the grant.
