On October 181h, Mr, Berndt de:nied this request stating that resources were not available for this project and he also questioned whether cleaning this drain would improve the situation,. Enclosed is a copy of the original letter and a copy of his reply, Mr. Bemdt also suggested that the grade on the road be raised on 33'd Street. The City of Tower City and local patrons who use the road feel that it is the County's responsibility to maintain this drain. We are asking for your input. It is especially important to maintain this road because it is heavily traveled by agricultural equipment in the spring and fall and diverts traffic around the City of Tower City, We cannot currently maintain this road because of the malfunctioning drain in the county road ditch. Mr. Berndt's reply states that he questions whether cleaning this drain will improve the situation. This ditch has worked well in the past but has been neglected forsevera1 years.' Mr, Berndt's suggestion of raising the grade would only cause ponding of water on adjacent land unless the drain in the county road ditch is cleaned and maintained, Once the drain has been cleaned, then the city wiJllook into raising the grade on this area of 33rd Street.
