<br />Commission Minutes--November 15, 1999 2059 <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />NOVEMBER 15, 1999 <br /> <br />1. MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairperson Robbie Quick called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as <br />follows: Paul Koenig, John Meyer, Alon Wieland, Donna Schneider and Robbie Quick. <br /> <br />2. MINUTES APPROVED <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded that the minutes of the <br />previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. AGENDA, Order approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to approve the order of <br />the agenda as printed. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4. RESOLUTION #1999-17, National grasslands management <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to adopt Resolution <br />#1999-17 as follows: On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #1999-17 <br />Cass County Board of Commissioners <br />Whereas, The original use of the grasslands was directly related to economic and rangeland <br />recovery in the 1930s; and <br /> <br />Whereas, Rangeland health and wildlife habitat increased and flourished in the next six <br />decades with farm and ranch management; and <br /> <br />Whereas, The grasslands have contributed to the economic and tax base of North Dakota <br />through grazing, jobs, energy development, tourism, recreation, hunting and other <br />uses; and <br /> <br />Whereas, The U.S. Forest Service proposes changes that severely reduce grasslands use, <br />especially among the farmers and ranchers who have insured the future health <br />of the rangeland and rely upon the grasslands for their livelihoods; and <br /> <br />Whereas, The U.S. Forest Service proposes changes that will severely restrict oil and gas <br />exploration and production; and <br /> <br />Whereas, The U.S. Forest Service proposal to change grassland management will have <br />adverse and permanent repercussions on the heritage and economy of North <br />Dakota; <br />
