ROAD DEPARTMENT, County Highway 10 and County Highway 14 slide reDair MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to reject the bid for Cass County Highway 10 slide repair because only one bid was received and the bid amount is higher than anticipated, according to a memorandum from Keith Berndt, County Engineer, dated September 2, 1999. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. Mr. Berndt anticipates completing the Cass County Highway 14 slide repair with County forces because no bids were received and the FEMA deadline is April, 2000, for completing this work. 11. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Sale of vehicles at City of Fargo auction MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to authorize the sale of four Sheriff's Department vehicles through the City of Fargo auction to be held September 18,1999. The vehicles include two 1995 Ford Crown Victorias, one 1996 Ford Crown Victoria, and one 1994 Chevrolet Astro Van. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. 12. BUDGET REVIEW, Preliminary budget set at 78.66 mills: Commissioners to hold special meeting on September 27 to adopt final budget Commissioners received preliminary budget figures and a levy summary from the County Auditor's Office based upon changes made at previous budget meetings. Mrs. Quick invited comments or questions. Mrs. Schneider said it appears that all of the items discussed with department heads are included in the correspondence from the Auditor's Office and that additional work is needed on the budget. Commissioners were asked to submit any proposed changes on departments within their portfolios to Joyce Schepp, Commission Office, by September 13 for future consideration by the full Board. MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to adopt the 2000 preliminary county budget at 78.66 mills; to set a hearing date of September 20, 1999, at 3:30 PM in the Commission Room, Cass County Courthouse; and to direct the County Auditor to prepare a budget summary for publication in the County's official newspaper. Discussion: Mr. Wieland pointed out that this is not the final budget and that the preliminary budget is at least one mill lower than last year. Mrs. Quick noted that a special meeting of the Cass County Board of Commissioners will be held September 27,1999, at 3:30 PM for the purpose of adopting the final county budget for 2000. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
