Commission Minutes--June 21, 1999 1993 DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JUNE 21, 1999 1. MEETING TO ORDER Chairperson Robbie Quick called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as follows: Paul Koenig, John Meyer, Alon Wieland, Donna Schneider and Robbie Quick. 2. MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Meyer seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. 3. AGENDA, Order aDproved MOTION, passed Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve the order of the agenda with the following addition: commendation letter to Fargo Police Officers Dan Hudson and Greg Esposito. Motion carried. 4. FARGO POLICE OFFICERS, Commendation for outstanding Dolice work near Courthouse MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to commend Fargo Police Officers Dan Hudson and Greg Esposito for diffusing a dangerous situation outside the Cass County Courthouse in the early morning hours of June 14, 1999. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. A letter of commendation was read by the Commission Chairperson, Robbie Quick, and outstanding service awards were presented to Officer Hudson and to Officer Esposito. Commissioner Meyer also expressed appreciation for their exceptional police work. Officers Hudson and Esposito arrested a 23-year old man sitting in his car outside the Courthouse who was armed with an assault rifle, a large amount of ammunition, and materials to make pipe bombs. He was waiting for the Courthouse to open and reportedly wanted a judge to return a large knife taken from him in a separate incident. 5. INFORMATION SERVICES, Acting pay for two emDloyees MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to approve acting pay for Roxane Friese while she is temporarily assigned the position of interim director of the Information Services Department, and to approve acting pay for Tim Ringuette in the position of network specialist; both assignments being effective July 1, 1999, and continuing until permanent replacements are hired. According to county policy, the employees will be paid at the entry level or minimum level of the higher classification, or 5% above the current salary, whichever is greater. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
