<br />Commission Minutes--April19, 1999 1971 <br /> <br />version 6.3 with CAMA Trunk support, as reviewed and approved by <br />the State's Attorney. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />16. COURTHOUSE RE-ROOFING; MEETING UPDATES; JAIL ELECTION, Committee reports <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, reported that Courthouse re-roofing will begin in April, <br />weather permitting. The project was included in the Buildings and Grounds budget for this year. <br /> <br />Members of the Commission have been attending informational meetings with Sheriff Don <br />Rudnick throughout the County concerning funding for a new jail facility, and the vote will be held <br />tomorrow. <br /> <br />Commissioners reported on meetings they have attended in the past two weeks, as well as <br />upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Mr. Burdick reported that he has not yet received a legal opinion that was referred to in a letter <br />to Sheriff Rudnick and himself by two Fargo citizens regarding the sales tax vote on a new jail <br />facility. He stated that the matter has been discussed a number of times, and it is his opinion <br />that the Commission has not done anything unlawful or improper. He does not plan to take any <br />action until receiving the opinion mentioned in said letter, and he does not believe the Sheriff <br />is taking any action. <br /> <br />Mrs. Quick said no matter how the vote for a one-half of one percent sales tax to fund a new jail <br />facility turns out, she believes the process has been good government in action. She <br />commended Commissioners and county staff for their hard work in getting to this point. <br /> <br />17. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />City of Fargo Customs Activity quarterly report; <br />North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund notice of dividend check to Cass County in the <br />amount of $68,975; <br />request for comment on proposed Kindred-Davenport Regional Airport improvements per <br />letter from Kadrmas Lee & Jackson, Consulting Engineers and Surveyors. <br /> <br />18.
