<br />Commission Minutes--November 16, 1998 1895 <br /> <br />9. CONTRACT APPROVAL, North Dakota Department of Transportation <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve the following <br />contract submitted by respective department head and portfolio <br />commissioner, subjectto state's attorney approval; and authorize the <br />chair to sign: North Dakota Department of Transportation <br />maintenance certification. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />10. VETERAN'S SERVICE, Budget transfer to temporary salaries <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve Veteran's <br />Service Office 1998 budget transfer of $1,000 from overtime salaries <br />to temporary salaries, according to a letter from James Brent, <br />Veterans Service Officer, dated November 14,1998. On roll call vote, <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Recognition of Pat Connor for volunteer service <br />At this time, Pat Connor from the Cass County Sheriff's Reserve was publicly recognized by the <br />North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Cass County Sheriff's Department for the tremendous <br />amount of work he has done on a volunteer basis for both agencies. The County Commission <br />also thanked Mr. Connor for his volunteer service as unit commander and for his continued <br />service in the reserves. <br /> <br />12. HEARING ON LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, Sheriff's Department <br />This was the date and time advertised for a public hearing on 1998 law enforcement block grant <br />funds received from the Federal Government in the amount of $24,392, with a county match of <br />10%. Glenn Ellingsberg, Sheriff's Department, said the funds will be used for equipment <br />purchases within the department. Mrs. Schneider invited public comment and hearing none, <br />suggested a motion to close the public hearing. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to close the public <br />hearing on law enforcement block grant funds. Motion carried. <br /> <br />13. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Lease/purchase of dictation eauipment <br />Mr. Ellingsberg requested permission to enter into a lease/purchase agreement to upgrade the <br />Sheriff's Department dictation equipment to a year 2000 compliant version since the current <br />equipment will no longer be covered by maintenance after the year 1999. The leased <br />equipment would consist of a Digital Express 4000 with management console, 8 ports with 25 <br />hours of voice storage, four transcriber stations, and a locked-in maintenance cost for the term <br />of the lease. The system would be capable of handling additional county departments, he said. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to allow the Sheriff's <br />Department to enter into a lease/purchase agreement with Dictaphone <br />Corporation to upgrade their system to a Digital Express 4000, in the <br />amount of $32,194.48 over five years, which includes maintenance. <br />On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br />
