Commission Minutes--September 28, 1998 1874 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to deny the 3/4 time <br />positions in Weed and Vector Control. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />with four members voting "Aye" and Mr. Meyer opposing. <br /> <br />Jail/Sheriff's Department MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to deny the court officer <br /> and half-time transportation officer for the jail. On roll call vote, <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Social Services MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to reinstate $24,000 (net) <br /> in county dollars in Social Services budget, in lieu of new positions, as <br /> follows: $4,000 to General Assistance; $16,000 to sponsorships; <br /> $2,000 to homemaker services; and $2,000 to foster care services. On <br /> roll call vote, motion carried with Mrs. Quick, Mrs. Schneider and Mr. <br /> Wieland voting "Aye"; Mr. Meyer and Mr. Koenig opposing. <br /> <br />State's Attorney <br />John Goff, State's Attorney, said the budget cuts he made when the Commission asked all <br />departments to submit 5% budget reductions were a trade-off to keeping the secretary position. <br />Since the secretary position was not approved, he asked for reconsideration of the following cuts: <br />$4,550 for intern/law clerk position; $3,000 for temporary salaries; $1,000 for transcripts; and <br />$2,000 for reference books. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to approve an additional <br /> $7,550 in two line items for the State's Attorney's budget, those being <br /> $4,550 for the intern/law clerk position and $3,000 for temporary/ <br /> employment agency. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />BUDGET FOR 1999, Approved at 69.26 mills MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to approve the 1999 county <br /> budget at 69.26 mills.
