Commission Minutes--September 28, 1998 1873 <br /> <br />Attorney hopes to obtain a grant for $24,248. Motion failed on roll call <br />vote with Mr. Meyer and Mr. Koenig voting "Aye"; Mrs. Schneider, Mr. <br />Wieland and Mrs. Quick opposing. <br /> <br />Extension Service MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to support the Extension <br /> Agent Nutrition position contingent upon 100% funding outside of the <br /> county budget. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Regional Child Support Enforcement MOTION, failed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to authorize one Case Aide <br /> position and one Case Analyst position, in addition to a temporary <br /> position already increased to full-time next year, in the Regional Child <br /> Support Enforcement Unit. Motion failed on roll call vote with Mr. <br /> Meyer and Mr. Koenig voting "Aye"; Mrs. Quick, Mrs. Schneider and Mr. <br /> Wieland opposing. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to increase the Regional <br />Child Support Enforcement Unit overtime line item by $5,000 in the <br />1999 budget. Motion carried on roll call vote with four members voting <br />"Aye" and Mr. Wieland opposing. <br /> <br />Veterans Service Office MOTION, failed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved to increase the temporary salaries line item for the <br /> Veterans Service Office from $8,000 to $16,000. Motion failed for lack <br /> of a second. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to increase the temporary <br />salaries line item for the Veterans Service Office from $8,000 to $12,000 <br />for 1999. Motion carried on roll call vote with Mrs. Quick, Mr. Wieland <br />and Mr. Meyer voting "Aye"; Mrs. Schneider and Mr. Koenig opposing. <br /> <br />Weed and Vector Control MOTION, failed <br />Mr. Meyer moved to approve one 314 time position in the Weed or <br />Vector Control Department, with the department head, Keith Berndt, <br />making the decision where to place the additional position. Motion <br />failed for lack of a second. <br />Commissioners discussed the difficulties of hiring seasonal, temporary employees at the <br />Highway Department. According to county policy, seasonal employees are paid at 85% of the <br />full DBM (Decision Band Method) salary. However, Mr. Berndt said his 1999 budget figures <br />include paying 95%, which should help with recruiting efforts next year. Commissioners will <br />expect a policy change to formalize this action. <br /> <br /> <br />
