Commission Minutes--August 24, 1998 1861 <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to request county <br />department heads, with the exception of the County Engineer because <br />he operates under the 10-mill road levy, to bring back to the <br />Commission an additional 5% decrease in their respective 1999 <br />proposed budget, after today's review with the County Auditor; and <br />that the budget reductions be provided to the County Auditor by <br />September 2, 1998. Discussion: The auditor will prepare a summary <br />sheet after receiving new budget considerations from department <br />heads, which will be available for the County Commission on <br />September 8th, the next regularly scheduled meeting day. Departments <br />will also be asked to update their revenue projections. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Concerning the Weed and Vector Control budgets, Keith Berndt, County Engineer, presented <br />two memorandums dated August 24, 1998, offering some budget reductions in those <br />departments, if necessary. MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to remove the 314 position <br /> in Weed and Vector Control, in keeping with the removal of all new <br /> employee positions at this time. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Concerning the motion for county departments to come back to the board with an additional 5% <br />in cuts, other agencies will be contacted about possible cuts also. MOTION, failed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved to fund Lake Agassiz Regional Council at $9,000 for <br /> 1999; to reduce Fargo Cass County Economic Development operating <br /> fund from $175,000 to $166,000; and to fund the loan pool at $400,000, <br /> as currently budgeted.
