RESOLUTION #1998-15, Metropolitan Council of Governments Transportation Plan
Keith Berndt, Cass County Engineer, was present to introduce Cindy Gray, Transportation
Planner of the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (COG). In his opening
comments, Mr. Berndt informed Commissioners that Cass County's allotment of Federal highway
funds will increase next year, from about $400,000 to $937,000 annually. The additional money
will allow for another 1 % miles of highway construction, he said.

Concerning one of the proposed projects in COG's Transportation Plan, Mr. Berndt asked the
county to allow some flexibility in approving the plan. He said the West Fargo City Commission
may reconsider the possibility of an interchange, as opposed to a highway crossing, at Interstate-
94 and 9th Street. Also, Mr. Berndt said he has discussed the possibility of a future bikeway with
Mr. Wieland, and the county may want to consider asking COG to include that in the plan.

Ms. Gray addressed the board at this time and provided an update from the June copy of the
Draft Metropolitan Transportation Plan by providing a list of Cass County's short and long-range
potential future transportation improvement projects. She said COG's plan is updated every five
years, and the plan presented today has been recommended for approval by the six local
planning commissions, including the Cass County Planning Commission. She said two public
hearings on the plan were held in June, and no comments were received on the Cass County
projects~ however, comments have since been received on the Red River Corridor Study.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to adopt Resolution
#1998-15 as follows: On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
