RESOLUTION #1998-13, Disaster declaration <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize the <br />chairperson to sign the following Resolution #1998-13 as a Disaster <br />Declaration for Cass County, and to authorize all offices and <br />departments to seek means to reduce the financial impact to Cass <br />County from these current wet conditions: On roll call vote, motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County has had a considerable amount of rainfall accumulate during 1998, <br />and this rainfall along with the previous years of flooding and wet weather has <br />caused roadways to become saturated and crop land inundated; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County has spent considerable time and incurred considerable costs <br />for maintaining our gravel roadways to allow for emergency response and <br />other protective measures required to save lives and protect public health <br />and safety; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cass County continues to see costs mount. The potential for damages to <br />public and private property and roads are beyond normal anticipation and <br />budgeted funds. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 37-17.1-10 of the North <br />Dakota Century Code, the Board of County Commissioners does hereby declare Cass <br />County a disaster area; and that all applicable emergency operating plans of the county <br />are hereby activated to save lives and protect public health and safety. <br /> <br />Dated at Fargo, North Dakota, this 20th day of July, 1998. <br /> <br />8. SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, Grant application: grant account <br />MOT/ON, passed . <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize the <br />chairperson to sign 1998 law enforcement block grant application, per <br />letter from the Sheriff's Department dated July 10, 1998. On roll call <br />vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to authorize the county <br />auditor to establish a non-lapsing special account for law enforcement <br />block grant funds and to transfer revenue of $21,882 from account <br />#101-3501-331.55-10 and expenditures of $21 ,882 from account #101- <br />3501-421.82-01 to the new account. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />
