<br />Commission Minutes--July 6, 1998 1833 <br /> <br />18. COMMISSION PORTFOLIOS; MEETING UPDATES; NDACo; LAKE AGASSIZ REGIONAL <br />COUNCIL; TAX INCENTIVE POLICY COMMITTEE; GFOA CONVENTION, Committee reports <br />Mrs. Schneider received a letter from a citizen requesting information on commission portfolios <br />and said the citizen was present earlier in the meeting but had to leave; therefore, she said this <br />item will be included under correspondence at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioners reported on meetings they have attended since the last Commission meeting, <br />as well as upcoming meetings. Mr. Meyer recently attended several water board meetings. Mr. <br />Wieland said road meetings will be held in Page and Hunter tomorrow and in Buffalo and <br />Casselton on Friday. He said other commissioners are welcome to attend. Mrs. Quick said a <br />Master Flood Meeting was held on June 23rd which provided alternatives to flood mitigation as <br />well as costs for the alternatives. She said public meetings will be held on July 21 st and July <br />22nd at the south campus of Hope Lutheran Church. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said he is temporarily serving as 2nd Vice President of the North Dakota Association <br />of Counties due to a resignation. <br /> <br />Mrs. Quick attended a Lake Agassiz Regional Council meeting on June 26th and said Irv Rustad <br />is in the process of determining how to comply with the Attorney General's opinion. Also, a <br />meeting was held on June 30th with five States Attorneys (including John Goff) as well as <br />representatives from the Attorney General's Office. Mr. Goff said a follow up meeting will be held <br />on August 3rd. <br /> <br />Mr. Koenig said the Tax Incentive Policy Committee met today and he hopes to have <br />recommendations to clarify the policy by the next Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir attended a Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Convention in San <br />Francisco. He said the convention stressed more citizen involvement during the budget process <br />as well as dispersing information onto the Internet. <br /> <br />19. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />notice from Barnes County Soil Conservation District (copied for Commissioners) <br />regarding a meeting with Dave Sprynczynatyk of the State Water Commission, to be held <br />July 13, 1998, in Valley City, to discuss possibility of future damage to the lower Sheyenne <br />River should the Devils Lake outlet and Tri-County Drain become a reality. <br /> <br />20. ADJOURNMENT <br />MOTION, passed <br />On motion by Mrs. Quick and seconded by Mr. Koenig, the meeting <br />was adjourned about 5:20 PM. <br />
