<br />Mrs. Quick suggested that no house movers be hired unless they are bonded and insured.
<br />MOTION, passed
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to approve the Cass
<br />County Phase I Hazard Mitigation Acquisition Program for the
<br />December 30,1997, bids, with the exception of property #18, 19,20
<br />and 22 in Heritage Hills Subdivision until such time as the county
<br />committee and residents of the subdivision have resolved other
<br />issues with the County Engineer and Stanley Township
<br />representative. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.

<br />17. RESOLUTION #1998-1 and #1998-2, Two-year tax exemption on new home construction
<br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, said he has had some questions about the county
<br />granting a two-year tax exemption for new home construction, as they did in 1995 and 1996.
<br />He said the cities of Fargo and West Fargo, as well as most of the incorporated cities in the
<br />county, offer some type of exemption.
<br />MOTION, passed
<br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to adopt Resolution
<br />#1998-1 and Resolution #1998-2 as follows: On roll call vote,
<br />motion carried with three members voting "Aye, II Mrs. Quick and
<br />Mrs. Schneider opposing.

<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Section 57-02-08(36) of the North Dakota Century Code permits up to $75,000
<br />of the true and full value of all single family residential property, exclusive of the
<br />land on which it is situated, to be exempt from the taxable year in which
<br />construction is begun.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Cass County Commissioners, in
<br />accordance with Section 57-02-08(36), NDCC, hereby grants approval of a two-year tax
<br />exemption for new homes started between January 1, 1997, and December 31, 1997.
