14. <br /> <br />16. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--December 15, 1997 1755 <br /> <br />STATE'S ATTORNEY HIRING; MEETING UPDATES; JOINT COMMUNICATIONS; FEMA <br />REPRESENTATIVES; EXTENSION OPEN HOUSE; JAIL COMMITTEE; CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY, <br />Committee reports <br />Mr. Goff reported he hired an additional attorney under the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant. <br /> <br />Commissioners reported on meetings they recently attended and upcoming meetings. <br /> <br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, reported on a meeting last week with representatives of Cass <br />County Electric concerning joint communications. Mr. Wieland suggested scheduling a future <br />meeting to discuss this topic. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson will be meeting with a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) delegation <br />on Wednesday at 4:00 PM in her office, and she invited any questions or concerns from <br />commissioners. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schneider said the Extension Service held an open house earlier today in their newly <br />remodeled offices, and their programs were displayed throughout the adjoining meeting room. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said he intends to have the Jail Advisory Committee meet in January, however, he <br />believes Royce Yeater should be relieved of his duties on the committee because he would like <br />to be considered as an architect for the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said a number of county employees inquired about the Friday after Christmas being <br />a paid holiday, and he invited comments from other commissioners. It was a consensus to retain <br />the current holiday policy. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to receive and file <br /> correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />Cass County Soil Conservation District's survey of natural resource issues; <br />notice of Alliance Pipeline meeting at 1:30 PM on December 18, 1997, in the Foster <br />County Courthouse at Carrington, ND; <br />notification from North Dakota Division of Emergency Management that the deadline <br />for submitting Hazard Mitigation Grant Program applications is extended to March 1, <br />1998. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT MOTION, passed <br /> On motion by Mr. Koenig and seconded by Mrs. Quick, the meeting was <br /> adjourned about 4:16 PM. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Michael Mo~tplaisir - Auditor <br />Cass County, North Dakota <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />Alon Wieland, Chairman <br />Cass County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> <br />
