Commission Minutes--August 26, 1997 1696 <br /> <br />Historical Society MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to maintain the current <br /> year budget amount of $30,000 for the Cass County Historical Society, to <br /> be paid after January 1, 1998, thus eliminating the need for them to submit <br /> bills to the Auditor's Office. On roll call vote, motion carried with four <br /> members present voting "Aye." <br /> <br />Wamr <br /> <br />Resource Districts <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Quick moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to increase Southeast <br />Cass Water Resource District from 3 to 3.5 mills, to maintain North Cass, <br />Maple River and Rush River Water Resource Districts at 4 mills, and to <br />maintain Red River Joint Board at 1 mill. The Commission strongly <br />suggests a 10% decrease in administrative costs, to include a reduction <br />in the percentage increase for salary of the secretary-treasurer and <br />keeping per diem for managers at $45 instead of $60, and that no more <br />than $60,000 be removed from projects within the Southeast Cass Water <br />Resource budget. <br />AMENDED MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to amend the motion to reflect <br />Southeast Cass Water Resource District funding at 3.6 mills, with the <br />recommendation that $10,000 be taken from administrative costs ($7,500 <br />from per diem and $2,500 from salary of Secretary-Treasurer) and no more <br />than $60,000 to be taken from projects. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />on the amended motion with three members voting "Aye", Mrs. Schneider <br />opposing. At the call for the question and upon roll call vote, the main <br />motion carried with three members voting "Aye", Mrs. Schneider <br />opposing. <br /> <br />Economic Development MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to fund Fargo Cass <br /> County Economic Development Corporation at $618,000 for the Growth <br /> Initiative Fund and $134,000 for operations, to fund U.S. Customs at <br /> $29,000 and to fund Lake Agassiz Regional Council at $10,000. On roll <br /> call vote, motion carried with Mrs. Quick, Mrs. Schneider and Mr. Meyer <br /> voting "Aye"; Mr. Wieland opposing. <br /> <br />Sheriff's Department MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to delete $50,000 <br /> consulting line item from the Jail budget. On roll call vote, motion carried <br /> with four members present voting "Aye." <br /> <br /> <br />
