Commission Minutes--August 25, 1997 1692 <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HF_ADS--PLF_.ASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />MEETING IN BUDGET SESSION <br /> AUGUST 25, t997 <br /> <br />MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the budget meeting to order at 8:00 AM in the Commission Room, <br />Cass County Courthouse, with all members present as follows: Donna Schneider, Paul Koenig, <br />John Meyer, Roberta Quick and Alon Wieland. <br /> <br />OVERVIEW BY COUNTY AUDITOR <br />County Auditor Michael Montplaisir gave an overview of the 1998 proposed Cass County budget. <br />Preliminary budget approval is scheduled on the Commission agenda for the next regular meeting, <br />which is September 2, 1997. <br /> <br />Budgets of various county departments and outside agencies were discussed with respective <br />department heads and agency representatives. Appointments were scheduled between 8:30 AM <br />and 3:30 PM, after which time, Commissioners took action on specific line items. <br /> <br />BUDGETING DECISIONS <br />Cemetery_ <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to pursue obtaining quit claim <br /> title to the cemetery located by Ayr, ND at a minimal expense. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> <br />Auditor-consolidation of election precincts MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to contact all townships in the <br /> county regarding consolidation of voting precincts, asking for their input <br /> on which townships might be combined, at a cost savings of $600-700 per <br /> precinct, per election. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Director of Tax Equalization MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to create a revenue line <br /> item in the Tax Director's budget in the amount of $10,000 for <br /> reassessment services. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Commission <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to remove the line item for <br /> computer equipment in the amount of $40,000 from the Commission <br /> budget.
