20. <br /> <br />21. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--August 18, 1997 1687 <br /> <br />assessor and tax director feel it is equitable overall with surrounding properties. If the applicant <br />feels aggrieved on the abatement, Mr. Klein said he may appeal to the District Court. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mrs. Quick seconded that Abatement #4077 for <br /> Stephen H. Madsen be denied, as recommended by the Director of <br /> Equalization. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTIONS #1997-24, 25, 26, Street Improvement District #97-1 (Round Hill) <br />Daniel R. Twichell, Attorney for the Street Improvement District No. 97-1 was present at this time. <br />Bids were received for the furnishing of materials, labor and skill needed for construction of Street <br />Improvement District No. 97-1 of the County of Cass as follows: <br /> <br /> Bidder <br />Border States Paving, Inc. <br />Northern Improvement Company <br /> <br />Base Bid Al~rnate #2 Total <br />$180,870 $11,500 $192,370 <br />$178,617 $20,625 $199,242 <br /> <br />A letter was received from Roger Fenstad, Moore Engineering, recommending the County award a <br />contract to Border States Paving for their Iow base bid and alternate #2 bid of $180,870 and <br />$11,500, respectively, for a total bid of $192,370. <br /> <br />A letter was also received from Donald Puetz, Stanley Township Board of Supervisors, approving <br />the resurfacing of Round Hill Estates provided the cost of maintenance and repair of said streets and <br />street drains, excluding snow removal, shall not be the responsibility of Stanley Township. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to adopt RESOLUTION <br /> #1997-24 ACCEPTING BID, SHOWING RECEIPT OF ENGINEER'S <br /> STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED COST AND DIRECTING EXECUTION OF <br /> CONTRACT. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Concerning the resolution directing assessments to be levied, Mr. Twichell provided an amended <br />resolution which includes $5,000 for construction interest. Notice and Certification of County Auditor <br />was also amended to include construction interest. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Meyer moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to adopt RESOLUTION #1997- <br /> 25 DIRECTING ASSESSMENTS TO BE LEVIED, as amended by Mr. <br /> Twichell with the construction interest added. On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to adopt RESOLUTION <br />#1997-26 RELATING TO FINANCING STREET IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT <br />NO. 97-1. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />ROAD PAVING REQUEST, County Road $ at Chaffee <br />Keith Jensen, Chaffee, provided petitions (as submitted to the County Engineer July 15, 1997) <br />signed by approximately 100 citizens requesting Cass County Road #5 be graded and blacktopped <br />south of Chaffee to State Highway 46. The Board was in agreement to refer the request to the Road <br />Advisory Committee for further review and study. Mr. Wieland said Mr. Jensen is aware this project <br /> <br /> <br />
