23. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--February 3, 1997 1585 <br /> <br />A meeting is scheduled this week, on February 5th, at 7:30 AM at the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA <br />regarding the Fargo Business Improvement District (BID). Mr. Wieland, Mr. Koenig and Mr. <br />Meyer plan to attend. <br /> <br />New Commissioners were encouraged to attend the North Dakota Association of Counties <br />orientation for newly elected officials February 26-27, 1997 in Bismarck at the Doublewood Inn. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson updated the Commission on water problems in county buildings over the past <br />weekend due to melting snow on the roof. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson had scheduled an orientation for earlier today for new commissioners on the <br />departments she supervises. Because of the number of other meetings Commissioners were <br />attending today, she will re-schedule it for this Friday at 3:00 PM ahead of the legislative meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer reported that he and Mrs. Quick also met with first responders and rural fire <br />departments regarding communications and dispatch centers. <br /> <br />The Senior Citizen Bus Committee met last week, and Mr. Meyer said they are waiting for some <br />information and will meet again in the near future. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland will be attending a Welfare Reform meeting in Bismarck all day on February 11th. <br /> <br />With the cooperation of department heads, county employees will be given a voluntary <br />opportunity to make up annual leave they have taken due to this winter's storm days. Make-up <br />days are scheduled for the next two holidays, President's Day and Good Friday. Mr. Wieland <br />indicated a number of department heads and employees are interested in taking advantage of <br />this opportunity. <br /> <br />Chairman Wieland wrote a "Message from the Chair" in the monthly newsletter distributed with <br />employee paychecks for the month of January. He suggested a message from the Commission <br />each month, and Mrs. Quick volunteered to write an article for February. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland said he will be absent from the next two Commission meetings. Mrs. Johnson will <br />miss the February 18th meeting. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Quick moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to receive and file <br /> correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />North Dakota Governor's Executive Order 1997-2, dated January 21, 1997, declaring a <br />"Snow Disaster" for the State of North Dakota; <br /> <br />letter from Bill Barnick, Bill's Parking Lots, dated January 26, 1997, regarding Fargo <br />Business Improvement District (BID); <br /> <br />letter of congratulations from Governor Ed Schafer to Cass County and Tri-Line <br />Transportation for paying off their Community Development Block Grant loan; <br /> <br /> <br />
