22. <br /> <br />23. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--January 6, 1997 1569 <br /> <br />Mrs. Schneider reported that she attended a meeting on December 30, 1996, with State's <br />Attorney John Goff, Assistant State's Attorney Alan Dohrmann, County Auditor Michael <br />Montplaisir, and Commissioner-elect, Paul Koenig. The group discussed a request to add one <br />file clerk and two legal secretaries to the State's Attorney's Office. In a memorandum dated <br />December 31, 1996, Mr. Montplaisir prepared cost proposals for the additional staff. Mrs. <br />Schneider requested that Commissioners study the information and the matter be placed on the <br />next meeting agenda. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland reminded commissioners to review work plans of their portfolio departments and he <br />asked anyone to let him know if they would be interested in serving as portfolio commissioner for <br />the water resource districts. <br /> <br />Also, Mr. Wieland said one of his personal goals for 1997 will be to encourage better <br />communication between the commission and department heads/employees. He asked for input <br />from other commissioners between now and the next meeting, as well as from departments heads <br />and employees, on ways to increase cooperation and communication, especially with employees <br />in this building and the other two county buildings. Jeannette Stanton, Fargo, suggested that <br />commissioners look at ways to improve communication with the taxpayers and make it easier for <br />them to access the commission agenda. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to receive and file <br /> correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />information from North Dakota Department of Transportation regarding traffic counting on <br />county routes; <br /> <br />letter from Diane M.
