Commission Minutes--October 21, 1996 1531 MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to forward a copy of the City of Fargo school bus ordinance to State's Attorney, John Goff, for his review and drafting an ordinance for consideration by the Cass County Board of Commissioners. Motion carried unanimously. MAPLE RIVER DAM, Discussion with Maple Valley Alliance Lynn Utke was present representing the Maple Valley Alliance, which is a group of citizens opposed to the Maple River dam project. He provided information and copies of resolutions opposing the dam from the following: Ransom County townships of Liberty, Moore and Coburn; Pontiac, Highland, Clifton, Eldred, Walburg and Watson in Cass County; the cities of Enderlin and Alice; the Ransom County Board of Commissioners; along with a petition signed by residents of the City of Enderlin and surrounding counties. Commissioners suggested that this group present the information to the water resource districts. APPRAISAL OF TAX-FORFEITED PROPERTY, Hearinp date set for November 4th MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to set the value of the tax- forfeiture properties as outlined in the list provided by the County Auditor's Office; and to set the hearing date on the value of property at 3:30 PM on November 4, 1996. Motion carried unanimously. VOUCHERS, A.n_~roved MOTION, passed Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Ness seconded to approve Vouchers No. 94,088 through No. 94,587. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. REFUGEE MEETING; WEED/VECTOR CONTROL OPERATIONS; NDACO RESOLUTIONS, Committee reports Mrs. Schneider reported that Lutheran Social Services is sponsoring a Kurdish refugee informational meeting October 24th at 3:00 PM, Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mr. Ness commented on how well the weed/vector control operation is going since the consolidation and joint utilization of staff. Mr. Wieland said Cass County government had success with resolutions presented at the North Dakota Association of Counties and County Commissioners Association convention in Bismarck last week. He will be working with Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, to formulate legislation.
