On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />STATE'S ATTORNEY REPORT; GANG RESISTANCE MEETING; SENIOR CITIZEN BUS <br />TRANSPORTATION; COMMISSIONER OF THE YEAR AWARD; JOINT COMMUNICATIONS <br />UPDATE; INTERNATIONAL COALITION FUNDING; FARGO CASS COUNTY ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVE, Committee reports <br />In responding to an inquiry from Chairman Toussaint concerning William Hart's unpaid medical <br />bills, Mr. Goff said the Commission may wish to consider a closed session to discuss the matter. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert recently attended a meeting of the Gang Resistance Task Force and questioned the <br />need for that group to continue meeting because different groups/organizations are doing a good <br />part in addressing the issue. Their next meeting is scheduled for January 27, 1997, and he <br />suggested that another commissioner try to attend that meeting since his term on the County <br />Commission ends December 31, 1996. <br /> <br />Mr. Wieland suggested placing an item on the October 21st or November 4th agenda for <br />discussion on the senior citizen bus transportation policy. Mr. Ness said he recently called the <br />Treasurer of the Cass County Council on Aging suggesting that she write a letter to the <br />Commission outlining upcoming travel plans. <br /> <br />Commissioners congratulated Mr. Wieland upon learning from Mark Johnson, Executive Director <br />of the North Dakota Association of Counties, that he was selected to receive the 1996 Excellence <br />in County Government Award for Commissioner of the Year. He will be honored at a banquet on <br />October 8, 1996 during the annual convention at the Radisson Inn, Bismarck. <br /> <br />County Coordinator, Bonnie Johnson, said the City of Fargo will be hosting a luncheon meeting <br />about mid-October to bring all of the elected officials together to determine how to proceed in the <br />Joint Communications effort. She said the technical committee met here last week. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schneider will provide copies to all commissioners of a letter she received from Joe Belford, <br />County Commissioner from Ramsey County and chairman of the budget committee for the Red <br />River Water Planning Group of the International Coalition. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schneider represents Cass County Government on the Fargo Cass County Economic <br />Development Corporation and said she has been unable to attend a number of their meetings <br />because of other commitments. She asked about appointing an alternate, however, Mr. Ness <br />also represents Cass County on that board, and at least one of them will try to attend all of the <br />meetings. <br /> <br /> <br />
