Comm. Minutes--August 21, 1995 1379

15.

16.

17.

18.

WORK PLAN REPORTS
Work plans were submitted by all department heads, except Extension Services and the
County Auditor. Portfolio commissioners should have work plans from these two departments
by the end of this week.

REFUGEE PROGRAM; SECURITY STATION STAFFING, Committee reports
Mrs. Toussaint reported that she has been in contact with United States Senator Byron
Dorgan regarding state and federal budget cuts and the affect on the refugee program. It was
learned that the State of North Dakota can apply to the federal government for a waiver to stop
participating in the refugee program. No objection was voiced by other commissioners to have
Cass County Social Services apply for a waiver through the state from the refugee
resettlement program for the reason that the county is already paying for more and more
programs because of state and federal cuts.

In a memorandum to commissioners dated August 21, 1995, Mr. Ness suggested establishing
a committee to study options for staffing the security stations in the Courthouse and the Cass
County Government Annex. Hearing no objections, the committee will consist of Don Rudnick,
Judge Norman Backes, Bonnie Johnson, Mary Hall, Kathy Hogan and Mike Montplaisir. This
committee will be asked to make a recommendation back to the commission in time to
complete the 1996 budget.

CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed
Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and file
correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried.

response from North Dakota Department of Transportation that they will not grant a
request from Cass County Government to provide on/off ramps at Interstate 29 and
County Road 32;

update from Brad Schmidt, Cass County Electric Cooperative, dated August 18, 1995,
on joint communication system.

ADJOURNMENT MOTION, passed
On motion by Mr. Wieland and seconded by Mrs. Toussaint, the meeting
was adjourned at 4:00 PM.

ATTEST:

APPROVED:

Michael Montplaisir-County Auditor
Cass County, North Dakota

e~rni~Ness, C~h irman
Cass County Board of Commissioners
