Comm. Minutes--August 15, 1994 1239

16.

17.

18.

SPACE AND PLANNING COMMITTEE, Departments to identify all space not
being used for a courthouse function MOTION, passed
Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to adopt the
recommendation of the Space and Planning Committee at a
meeting held on this date to review all existing space in
the Courthouse to be sure it is being used for a courthouse
function and, in the interest of space, to give up all
areas that do not meet that criteria. On roll call vote,
motion carried unanimously. Chairman Steve Risher will
send a letter to all county department heads and District
Court asking them to re-define the use of any areas that do
not meet the criteria of a courthouse function, i.e. coffee
rooms and storage areas not being used to their potential;
with a response to the Commission by September 30, 1994.

WORK PLAN REPORTS
Work plans were submitted for the following departments: Social
Services, prepared by Kathy Hogan; Road Department, prepared by Keith
Berndt; Personnel, Buildings and Grounds, County Coordinator and
County Commission, prepared by Bonnie Johnson. Mr. Risher asked
Commissioners to turn in work plans to the County Coordinator for the
remaining county department heads.

HOME RULE CHARTER PUBLIC HEARING; STATE'S ATTORNEY STAFF CHANGE;
REFUGEE RELOCATION; 1995 BUDGET SUMMARY; CEMETERY CARE, Committee
reports
Bonnie Johnson reported that the 1994 Home Rule Charter Commission is
holding a public hearing on this date at 7:30 PM in the Courthouse.

State's Attorney John Goff reported on a staff change, whereby an
assistant state's attorney is resigning and one attorney from the
Child Support Enforcement Office will be re-assigned to the State's
Attorney Office.

Mrs. Toussaint said she received 23 telephone calls and one letter,
all of them supporting the position concerning refugee relocation, as
discussed at the August 1, 1994, Social Service Board meeting.

County Auditor Michael Montplaisir provided a hand-out titled 1995
Budget Summary, and he suggested that the County Finance Committee
begin reviewing budget requests.

Mr. Montplaisir reported that Jeff Baer, Cemetery Authority Sexton,
recently mowed the grass and weeds in an abandoned cemetery near
Gardner, ND, because the county has received calls and letters about
the cemetery's upkeep from a resident of the State of Washington, who
has family buried in this cemetery. Mr. Eckert asked the Auditor for
an update on cemetery care at another location in the county. Mr.
Montplaisir said there is a question of ownership on that cemetery.
