On roll <br /> call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Purchase of electronic distance meters <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to authorize <br /> the County Engineer to purchase two electronic distance <br /> meters· On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />CONTRACT APPROVAL, Houston Engineering~ Wanzek Constructioni Swingen <br />Construction <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve <br /> contracts submitted by respective department head and <br /> portfolio commissioner, approved by the State's Attorney; <br /> and authorize the chairman to sign the following: <br /> 1) Houston Engineering for bridge replacement north of <br /> Harwood on County Road 81; 2) Swingen Construction for <br /> bridge replacement on County Road 31 in Wiser Township with <br /> a box culvert; and 3) Wanzek Construction for County Road <br /> 15/Kindred School crossing area. On roll call vote, motion <br /> carried unanimously· <br /> <br />WEED BOARD POSITION, Appointment of Commissioner Toussaint <br />Mr. Eckert asked to move this item from the consent agenda to the <br />regular agenda for discussion. He recommends advertising the weed <br />board position in the newspaper, however, Mr. Ness said this position <br />will be filled by a member of the County Board of Commissioners. Mrs. <br />Toussaint has been recommended for the position since she holds the <br />Road Department and weed portfolios. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert did not agree that the position should be filled by a <br />commissioner, but Mr. Risher said the determination was made at the <br />June 6, 1994, Commission meeting that the position would be filled by <br />a county commissioner. Mr. Wieland said other positions on the weed <br />board are filled from four geographic areas, from the two cities in <br />Cass County with populations over 5,000--this being Fargo and West <br />Fargo, and now a commissioner to make up the seven-member board. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Ness seconded to appoint <br /> Commissioner Sharon Toussaint as a member of the Cass <br /> County weed Control Board, representing the county <br /> commission. On roll call vote, the motion carried with <br /> four members voting "Aye," Mr. Eckert opposing. <br /> <br />DATA PROCESSING, Remote access to county computer system <br />Data Processing Coordinator Mike Steiner highlighted changes made in <br />the public information inquiry agreement, as reviewed by the State's <br />Attorney, for remote access to the county computer system. He <br />recommends adoption of the contract at the July 18th Commission <br />meeting, prior to which time he will test a remote site and will have <br />a better idea of the costs and fees to be charged for the .service. <br /> <br /> <br />
