Minutes--March 7, 1994 1180 <br /> <br />29. <br /> <br />30. <br /> <br />31. <br /> <br />32. <br /> <br />"TOOL CHEST" LEGISLATIVE BILL, Re-designation of county offices <br />Commissioners asked Bonnie Johnson to study the "tool chest" bill <br />passed by the 1993 Legislative Assembly, and she provided a hand-out <br />titled "Consideration of Re-Designation of County Offices from <br />Elective to Appointive." <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint said the board of commissioners should decide if they <br />want to review this legislation further, and she suggested surveying <br />current Cass County elected officials for their thoughts on this. <br />Mrs. Johnson was asked to bring this matter to a department head <br />meeting in the near future. <br /> <br />VOUCHERS, ApProved <br />Mr. Ness reviewed bills this month and questioned two vouchers from <br />Extension Services. He said one amounted to $49.00 for a staff person <br />to attend a seminar on conflict resolution. Such a seminar was <br />recently held in the Juvenile Justice Center by the Social Services <br />Department and was offered free of charge to other employees. <br /> <br />Mr. Ness recommends withholding payment on Voucher #59,069 for <br />purchase of a parent resource packet from Ohio State University. He <br />will request information from Extension Agent Brad Cogdill on the <br />purchase of such an item. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve <br /> Vouchers. No. 58369 through No. 59,362, with the exception <br /> of No. 59069 to Ohio State university. On roll call vote, <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS UPDATE, PARK REGIONALIZATION, Committee reports <br />Bonnie Johnson reported that installation of a new generator this <br />winter resulted in an operational savings to the county of $35,000.00. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said she inherited a problem with a fuel tank when she <br />took over supervision of maintenance in 1993. Due to a poor-fitting <br />cover, there is about 5" of water in the bottom of the 7,000 gallon <br />fuel tank, but that matter will be resolved this week. <br /> <br />Mr. Ness said the maintenance staff did a good job keeping sidewalks <br />cleared of snow this winter. <br /> <br />Mr. Eckert attended a meeting of the Kindred Park Board last week <br />regarding a proposed joint powers agreement for a regional park <br />district. He said there are some legal issues involved, and another <br />meeting is scheduled for tonight. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Toussaint moved and Mr. Ness seconded to receive and <br /> file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />United Blood Services appreciation to Cass County Social <br />Services for participating in a blood drive February 3rd, with <br />special thanks to Cathy Meyer for coordinating the event; <br /> <br /> <br />
