Comm. Minutes--December 20, 1993 1151 <br /> <br />21. <br /> <br />22. <br /> <br />name of Commissioner Bernie Ness as Vice Chairman for 1994. <br />On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />MAINTENANCE UPDATE; WELFARE-TO-WORK PROGRAM; SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS <br />POSITION; COURT CONSOLIDATION; EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION, Committee reports <br />County Coordinator Bonnie Johnson reported that maintenance employee, <br />Ron Leon, had surgery recently and plans to return to work the first <br />week in January. <br /> <br />Mr. Risher said two more clients have signed up as welfare-to-work <br />participants. <br /> <br />In Mr. Hoefs' resignation letter, he suggested opening the lines of <br />communication with county schools. Mr. Montplaisir asked him to set <br />up a meeting with the School Master's Association to give their input <br />on the county superintendent's position, and this can be taken into <br />consideration when filling the half-time position for the remainder <br />of next year. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint met with District Judge Norman Backes and with Dorothy <br />Howard, Clerk of District Court, on court consolidation. <br /> <br />Mrs. Toussaint thanked the commission and staff for their cooperation <br />during her term as Cass County Commission Chair. Mr. Wieland also <br />expressed his appreciation for the Commission's support on various <br />issues, and he said Cass County is fortunate to have qualified <br />department heads and employees working for the county. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to receive and <br /> file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: <br /> Motion carried. <br /> <br />letter of recommendation for appointing Mark Andrews III to the <br />Rush River Water Resource District; <br /> <br />information from Office of Attorney General on zoning seminar to <br />be held from 1:00 - 4:30 PM on Thursday, January 6th, 1994, at <br />the Health Department Environmental Training Center in Bismarck; <br /> <br />Bruce Hoefs letter of resignation from the position of County <br />Superintendent of Schools, effective January 14, 1993; <br /> <br />letter from Fargo Chamber of Commerce regarding Community Image <br />Task Force; <br /> <br />Notice of Claim and Demand for Compensation by Richard Varriano <br />on behalf of 17 claimants (referred to State's Attorney); <br /> <br />information from U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service describing <br />management activities on service lands; <br /> <br />suggested bid letting dates for counties from the suppliers <br />(referred to County Engineer); <br /> <br /> <br />
