Comm. Minutes--October 11, 1993 1125 <br /> <br />29. <br /> <br />30. <br /> <br />VOUCHERS, Approved <br />Mr. Ness reviewed bills this month. He is recommending that the <br />County Finance Committee develop a list of preferred office suppliers <br />and if a department does not buy from a supplier on that list, they <br />would submit a letter stating the reason for buying from another <br />supplier, whether it is a quality issue or another reason. <br /> <br />A policy was suggested by Mr. Ness on the County Court probation <br />officer carrying a weapon. It came to his attention when reviewing <br />a voucher for bullets for probation officer training. <br /> <br />Mr. Ness also questioned a bill for an autopsy, and Mr. Wieland <br />suggested reviewing that further. <br /> <br />Mr. Risher mentioned a bill for clothing at Nodak and a bill for an <br />8 x 10 directory picture for Sheriff Don Rudnick. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve Vouchers <br /> No. 53,522 through No. 54,467 with the exceptions of 54,076 <br /> to Dakota Clinic, Ltd. for an autopsy and 54,367 to <br /> Scherlings Photography for directory photo of the sheriff <br /> being held for further documentation. On roll call vote, <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />BOY SCOUT TROOP #225; COMMISSIONERS CONVENTION; EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND <br />BENEFITS FAIR; JAIL SEWER UPDATE; COMMISSION MEETING OF OCTOBER 18TH <br />CANCELLED; SUGGESTION BOX ITEM ON COFFEE BREAKS, Committee reports <br />Members of Boy Scout Troop 225 and their leader introduced themselves <br />after observing today's commission meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioners Eckert and Wieland attended the North Dakota County <br />Commissioners Convention in Minot last week. Mr. Eckert said it was <br />informative and all commissioners should have attended. Mr. Wieland <br />said next year's convention will be held in Fargo. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson reported that last Friday's health fair for county <br />employees and spouses was very successful and well attended. She <br />credited the success to the work of Kathy Ziegelmann, Chairman of the <br />Employee Benefits Committee, and to the County Personnel Office. Mrs. <br />Toussaint also expressed appreciation to the Benefits Committee and <br />the Personnel Office. <br /> <br />An update on the jail sewer repair was given by Bonnie Johnson. She <br />said a new laundry system is being implemented to inventory clothing <br />and shoes for jail inmates because they continue to stuff things in <br />the toilets resulting in plugged sewer lines. <br /> <br />Chairman Toussaint announced that the October 18, 1993, meeting of the <br />Cass County Commission and rotational department meeting will be <br />cancelled for lack of agenda items. The next regular meeting is <br />November 1st. <br /> <br />A suggestion box item was read by the Chairman in which a Cass County <br />taxpayer made an observation in the Courthouse cafeteria saying <br />productivity would increase if employees took shorter coffee breaks. <br /> <br /> <br />
