Comm. Minutes--October 11, 1993 1125 29. 30. VOUCHERS, Approved Mr. Ness reviewed bills this month. He is recommending that the County Finance Committee develop a list of preferred office suppliers and if a department does not buy from a supplier on that list, they would submit a letter stating the reason for buying from another supplier, whether it is a quality issue or another reason. A policy was suggested by Mr. Ness on the County Court probation officer carrying a weapon. It came to his attention when reviewing a voucher for bullets for probation officer training. Mr. Ness also questioned a bill for an autopsy, and Mr. Wieland suggested reviewing that further. Mr. Risher mentioned a bill for clothing at Nodak and a bill for an 8 x 10 directory picture for Sheriff Don Rudnick. MOTION, passed Mr. Ness moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve Vouchers No. 53,522 through No. 54,467 with the exceptions of 54,076 to Dakota Clinic, Ltd. for an autopsy and 54,367 to Scherlings Photography for directory photo of the sheriff being held for further documentation. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. BOY SCOUT TROOP #225; COMMISSIONERS CONVENTION; EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND BENEFITS FAIR; JAIL SEWER UPDATE; COMMISSION MEETING OF OCTOBER 18TH CANCELLED; SUGGESTION BOX ITEM ON COFFEE BREAKS, Committee reports Members of Boy Scout Troop 225 and their leader introduced themselves after observing today's commission meeting. Commissioners Eckert and Wieland attended the North Dakota County Commissioners Convention in Minot last week. Mr. Eckert said it was informative and all commissioners should have attended. Mr. Wieland said next year's convention will be held in Fargo. Bonnie Johnson reported that last Friday's health fair for county employees and spouses was very successful and well attended. She credited the success to the work of Kathy Ziegelmann, Chairman of the Employee Benefits Committee, and to the County Personnel Office. Mrs. Toussaint also expressed appreciation to the Benefits Committee and the Personnel Office. An update on the jail sewer repair was given by Bonnie Johnson. She said a new laundry system is being implemented to inventory clothing and shoes for jail inmates because they continue to stuff things in the toilets resulting in plugged sewer lines. Chairman Toussaint announced that the October 18, 1993, meeting of the Cass County Commission and rotational department meeting will be cancelled for lack of agenda items. The next regular meeting is November 1st. A suggestion box item was read by the Chairman in which a Cass County taxpayer made an observation in the Courthouse cafeteria saying productivity would increase if employees took shorter coffee breaks.
