Minutes--September 30, 1993 1118 <br /> <br />ll. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />COUNTY COMMISSION TRAVEL MOTION, failed <br /> Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Ness seconded to eliminate all <br /> travel for county commissioners. On roll call vote, motion <br /> failed with Mr. Eckert and Mr. Ness voting "Aye"; Mr. <br /> Wieland, Mr. Risher and Mrs. Toussaint opposing. Mr. <br /> Eckert said he feels that work within the county is as <br /> important or more important than work outside the county. <br /> <br />RESERVE FUNDS MOTION, failed <br /> Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to reduce county <br /> reserve funds by an amount to equal no increase in taxes. <br /> On roll call vote, the motion failed with Mr. Risher voting <br /> "Aye"; Mr. Eckert, Mr. Ness, Mrs. Toussaint and Mr. Wieland <br /> opposing. <br /> <br />BUDGET ADOPTED FOR 1994 MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Risher moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to adopt the 1994 <br /> county budget and levies as amended for all changes made <br /> since approval of the preliminary budget. On roll call <br /> vote,, the motion carried with Mr. Risher, Mr. Wieland and <br /> Mr. Eckert voting "Aye"; Mr. Ness and Mrs. Toussaint <br /> opposing. Mrs. Toussaint did not favor balancing the <br /> budget on employee raises. Mr. Ness said budget reductions <br /> were substantial in some departments but not all. <br /> <br />NATURE CONSERVANCY, Land acquisition proposal in Erie Township <br />Mr. Eckert reported that he represented the Cass County Commission at <br />a hearing held on September 28, 1993, at the Arthur City Hall for the <br />proposed acquisition of land in Erie Township and subsequent trade for <br />land in Ransom County by the Nature Conservancy, Dakotas Field Office. <br />The hearing was conducted by the North Dakota Commissioner of <br />Agriculture before an advisory committee consisting of various State <br />officials.
